Answer all 4 questions to see your match.

How this quiz works

Each question scores the five wallets differently based on their actual strengths and weaknesses. Your total score across all four questions determines your top match. The tradeoffs are real — there's no single "best" wallet, only the right one for your specific situation.

We score honestly. Some wallets we have affiliate links to (Ledger today; Trezor + BitBox pending approval); others we don't and never will (Coldcard by Coinkite policy, Bitkey by Block). The recommendation logic doesn't change based on commission — only on fit.

The five wallets — what each is actually for

BitBox02 Bitcoin-only — $169

The maxi's pick. Swiss-made, fully open-source firmware, deterministic builds (anyone can verify what's on your device). The Bitcoin-only edition physically removes every line of altcoin code — smallest possible attack surface. Best fit: Bitcoin-only holders who want a clean stack.

Trezor Safe 5 — $169

The polished prosumer wallet. 1.54" color touchscreen, haptic feedback, EAL 6+ secure element with no NDA on documentation. Supports SLIP-39 (Shamir Multi-share) — split your seed across 5 trusted people, recover with any 3. Best fit: users who want the most-polished app experience + powerful backup options.

Ledger Nano X — $149

The most-deployed hardware wallet in the world. Bluetooth + USB, supports 5,500+ assets, Ledger Live app is mature and beginner-friendly. Caveats: closed-source secure-element OS, plus the 2023 Ledger Recover saga damaged trust with open-source advocates. Best fit: users who want broad coin support + mobile UX.

Coldcard Mk4 / Q — $160 / $249

The treasury-grade option. Air-gapped signing via SD card, NFC, or QR (Q model) — the device never connects to the internet. Two secure elements (Microchip ATECC608B + Maxim DS28C36B). Trick PINs, Seed XOR, advanced multisig. Bitcoin-only, fully open-source. Best fit: serious treasuries, multisig coordinators, security-focused power users.

Bitkey (Block) — $250

The simplest UX of any wallet on this list. No seed phrase — Bitkey uses 2-of-3 multisig where Block holds one recovery key (but cannot access your funds independently). Phone-app driven. Best fit: non-technical users who want hardware-wallet security without the recovery-phrase responsibility, and especially users who want family-friendly inheritance via Block's recovery service.

UAE shipping note: Bitkey is US-focused for retail. UAE buyers typically use a US forwarder (MyUS, Aramex SHOP&SHIP). Adds AED 100-200 to the cost.

What we DIDN'T include and why

  • Trezor Model One / Safe 3: superseded by Safe 5. If you already have a Model One, it still works fine — just not what we'd recommend buying new.
  • Ledger Nano S Plus: the budget Ledger ($79). Works fine but no Bluetooth — if cost-conscious it's reasonable, but for the price difference we'd push you to BitBox02 Bitcoin-only.
  • Foundation Passport, Jade, SeedSigner, Krux: all real options but more niche / DIY. Not the right starting point for most UAE residents.
  • BitBox02 Multi-edition: we recommend the Bitcoin-only variant for serious holders — but the Multi variant is available if you need broader coin support.

What to do after the quiz

  1. Buy direct from the manufacturer. Never from Amazon UAE third-party sellers — tampering cases surface monthly.
  2. Set up immediately on arrival. Generate a new seed (not the test one shown during demos). Write down the recovery words.
  3. Test recovery before funding. Wipe the device, restore from seed, confirm it works. THEN send Bitcoin.
  4. Store the recovery phrase on metal. Paper degrades, gets lost, gets damp. Cryptosteel / Seedplate or similar.
  5. Move BTC off the exchange. See our UAE buying guide.
